Resident Foreigners by age and sex on January 1st
It is a process that, starting from Population Census data, calculates the municipal resident population of foreign citizenship by sex and year of birth as of December 31 of each year and is released as of January 1st of the following year.

Resident foreigners: population made up of persons with non-Italian citizenship or stateless habitually residing in Italy. (cfr. Foreigner habitually resident).
Sex: biological characteristics that contribute to define a person as male or female, as recorded in the registry office.
Foreigner habitually resident: person with non-Italian citizenship or stateless. It excludes those who have a foreign citizenship in addition to Italian, as the latter prevails. A foreign habitually resident includes both the CE foreign citizen and the non CE foreign citizen who habitually resides in a house or cohabitation, although in the second case the person must be legally entitled to reside in Italy, or have a valid residence permit or a permit to enter Italy for work reasons or family reunification, or the application for renewal of the residence permit or the application for the issue of the first permit.

Municipal total data by age and sex of resident foreigners line up correctly with Census results.
Resident population consists of the people having habitual residence in the national territory even if temporarily absent, both Italian and foreign citizenship.
